Trump's praise for the Australian system came as he met Thursday in NY with Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull hours after the U.S. House narrowly passed a bill to repeal parts of the Affordable Care Act, the health care law enacted by former President Barack Obama.
In a tweet, Sanders said Trump was right when he praised Australia's system of universal health care in a meeting with Prime Minister Turnbull in NY.
"President Trump praised the Australian health care system. and the president is right", the video states.
Australia has a single-payer, Medicare-style health-care system and the House had just voted earlier in the day to move the USA system closer to a private market system.
The senator added that the Democrats would use Trump's comment against the GOP during congressional debates, stating "We'll quote you on the floor of the Senate".

"It's going to be fantastic healthcare", Trump said, referring to his new healthcare plan. Bernie Sanders, a leading advocate of such single-payer systems.
