The Eagles finally landed the big running back they've needed throughout the offseason when LeGarrette Blount agreed to a one-year deal with the team on Wednesday.
The Cardinals have Andre Ellington in reserve and used a fifth-round pick on running back T.J. In his first year in New England, Blount gained 772 yards and averaged 5 yards per carry. I was somewhat surprised that New England did not retain Blount who had 15 Rushing Touchdowns inside the 10 yard line last season.
In addition to Blount, the Eagles have a plethora of weapons in the pass game with Alshon Jeffrey, Torrey Smith and Jordan Mathews. He rushed for 1,161 yards on 299 carries in the regular season. The Patriots acquired Blount in a trade with the Bucs in 2013.
Wentz did not have a running back he could trust in 2016.
Eagles fans should be very excited about this upcoming season.

The 30-year-old former Pro Bowler has put up 1,200 rushing yards and 14 touchdowns in his two seasons with Philadelphia.
He'll join the Eagles' backfield, which is now extremely deep. Is there a better mentor out there? He went to Pittsburgh the following year but was released in November and rejoined the Patriots.
Rookie Donnel Pumphrey and Corey Clement are also interesting.
The desire for Blount in Detroit was understandable, but the attraction was mostly superficial based on counting stats Blount achieved last season because he racked up so many carries.
A number of Eagles players reached out to Blount on Twitter to welcome him to Philadelphia. Blount was the only player in the National Football League to receive the UFA tender this year.
