Amazon intros Fire 7, drops price of Fire HD 8 Tablet

Amazon has become unbelievable at building top-end tablets that retail at rock bottom prices and its latest generation slabs for kids (the Fire 7 Kids Edition and Fire HD 8 Kids Edition) and for big kids (Fire 7 and Fire HD 8 with Amazon Alexa) are no exception. Both Fire Tablets are available for pre-order starting today, according to Amazon. This lets you speak a command to play songs or read the latest chapter of that book you can't pull yourself away from. The all-new Fire 7 is thinner and lighter, offers an improved display, longer battery life, and better Wi-Fi connectivity-while keeping the same low price of $49.99. We run through the key features below.

Fire 7 and Fire HD 8 offer handsome displays, up to 256 GB of expandable storage via microSD card, and all-day battery life, making them the ideal tablets for watching movies, playing games, reading books, listening to music, and much more whether jumping on a plane or heading out on a family trip. Device makers that utilize the API will need to update products to support the new directive.

The Fire 7 has a microSD card slot, which means you can expand the storage space to 256GB with a large enough card.

The new tablets will ship June 7, Amazon said. And, houses a front-facing VGA camera and 2 megapixel rear-facing camera with up to 720p HD video recording.
