"It was a very tough fight and he is one of the best I've been (in the ring) with, if not the best", Brook said after the fight that saw him suffer a first ever defeat at 147 pounds.
After being battered in round 11 and clearly affected by the damage to his left eye, Brook took a knee without being punched with 1:29 remaining in the round which led to referee Howard Foster to call an end to the fight.
The almost lifelong resident of Desoto, Texas, worked behind a strong jab out of his southpaw stance, a weapon that would swell Brook's left eye over the course of the fight.
Brook told Sky Sports: "They kept me in hospital till 3am where I had a CT scan on my eye".
"Now he's got to consider his future and I think he's one of the best fighters in the world and he needs to move up in weight". I'm gutted I've lost my belt in front of my fans in Sheffield. "He is scared of no man - he showed how fearless he was taking on Golovkin (his previous fight.) All the family have so much love and pride in him, Team Brook we will make him strong again".
"It was a very competitive fight".
While the latter question is more of a pipe dream, the idea that the victor of Thurman-Spence would find himself potentially competing for the status of pound-for-poumd king in the sport is much more realistic. I got hurt when I got put down, I'm a warrior and when you can't see, there's nothing you can do. "I am just so motivated for this fight, being back in Sheffield and being here". He said he wants to fight WBA-WBC champion Keith Thurman or WBO champion Manny Pacquiao next, either of which would be great matches.
Irving's 42 points power Cavs past Celtics
The other thing that I'd say about this team is they're fully committed to getting better every day , and that's a good thing. James picked up his fourth personal foul midway through the second quarter and did not play again in the first half .
Can I buy tickets for Brook vs Spence?
Brook's trainer, Dominic Ingle, doubled down on that viewpoint, saying that there's nothing Spence can bring to the table tomorrow that is going to shock Brook.
The last American to win a world title in England was Timothy Bradley, who defeated another Sheffield native, Junior Witter, in 2008 in Nottingham.
"Spence isn't overhyped.he's a good fighter", claims the renowned British boxing coach.
Spence came into the fight with an unbeaten record but Brook, with the Bramall Lane crowd firmly in his corner, began to take control of the bout. "I'm happy I won but I'm critical of my performance", Spence said.
"He deserves respect and I know Errol's glad that he got to fight the champion in his home town rather than fighting in Texas for a vacant belt".
Hearn refused to countenance the drop in weight as an excuse for the loss to the Texan, but, while Brook insisted in the immediate aftermath that he can still campaign at welterweight, his promoter thinks he should be moving up when he returns to action.
