Refreshed design for Twitter on iOS resurrects Android side menu

Twitter's latest redesign makes the iOS app look more like Android

Twitter is making some small design tweaks to make its app easier to use

Twitter is also adding a new side navigation menu so there are fewer tabs at the bottom of the app. Profile, additional accounts, settings and privacy will be in one spot.

For Android users, these changes were implemented last summer, and due to their positive response, Twitter is making those changes to iOS.

In a more subtle change, Twitter has tweaked its typography to make it more consistent, and added bolder headlines to make it easier for tweeters focus on what's happening. Formerly a back arrow, it is now a more traditional speech bubble.

Twitter users immediately responded Thursday by tweeting jokes and memes critical of the changes. In the case of features like a side navigation menu, Android users have had a chance to use the redesigned Twitter for nearly a year now.

Accessibility features have also been improved, with increased color contrast, more prominent access to settings and the ability to use Reader View to improve readability on sites which support it.

Why Jeff Sessions says he can't talk
Sessions confirmed Comey's account, but he placed less emphasis on the Trump-Comey meeting. A White House official downplayed Ruddy's comments , saying "Chris speaks for himself".

Another change is how users directly respond to tweets. Now Twitter has updated the reply icon to a speech bubble to make its meaning more clear.

While numerous changes are cosmetic, potentially the most consequential update is that Twitter's iOS apps' in-app browsers will now open links using Apple's Safari View Controller.

Speaking of interacting with tweets, you now find that things like retweets, replies, and favorite counts all update in real time.

The changes are reflected across multiple platforms, including on a desktop at Twitter.com, its mobile application for iOS, Android, TweetDeck and Twitter Lite. Twitter revenue growth has stalled for years, and the company has cut costs and shuffled executives while still never posting a quarter of profit.

To attract new users to the social network, Twitter is redesigning their applications.

It is important to note that changes such as the ability to edit previous tweets have not been implemented.
