"The new bun, which is now available in restaurants nationwide can be ordered with any of Chick-fil-A's sandwich". The individually-packaged bun may be ordered with any sandwich and is made with quinoa, amaranth, molasses and raisins.

Celiac disease is an autoimmune condition whereby the body essentially attacks the small intestine in response to an allergy to gluten, a protein found in wheat and barley. While the option remains rare in the fast-food industry, Chick-fil-A is not the first to offer gluten-free buns.

"We know our customers are looking for more gluten-sensitive alternatives". "We heard positive feedback in test markets that the bun tastes better than some other gluten-free breads".

The 150-calorie bun adds $1.15 to the cost of any sandwich at the chain.

Oil prices struggle on doubts OPEC can rein in oversupply
West Texas Intermediate for July delivery was at $44.70 a barrel on the New York Mercantile Exchange, down 3 cents, at 10:01 a.m. Crude output from OPEC nations rose by 290,000 bpd in May to a 2017 high of 32.08 million barrels per day, according to the EIA.

The company tested the option in three USA cities in 2016 and found the bun to be the most commonly ordered item with the grilled chicken sandwich and grilled chicken deluxe sandwich.

For the gluten-free set, ordering a burger or sandwich at most major fast-food restaurants means either going bun-less or subbing in a lettuce wrap.

The chain says the option comes as more customers have asked for more gluten-free options on their menu.

But people may be sticking to the gluten-free diet more than necessary.
