President Donald Trump appeared to confirm Friday that he is under investigation for obstruction of justice, claiming that he is being investigated for firing FBI Director James Comey by the man who told him to do it.
Details from some memos were made public in news media accounts in the days after he was sacked, and Comey himself detailed his conversations with Trump at a Senate hearing last week. Comey said he believes Trump ultimately fired him "because of the Russian Federation investigation". "I'm growing increasingly concerned that the President will attempt to fire not only Robert Mueller, the special counsel investigating possible obstruction of justice, but also Deputy Attorney General Rosenstein who appointed Mueller", warned Sen.
Mueller is investigating Russian interference in US elections and possible Russian ties to the Trump campaign.
The president did not directly address allegations that he is being probed for possibly obstructing justice - a potentially impeachable offense. "Nice", the president tweeted.
Trump, who hired his own lawyer last month to represent him regarding probes by the special counsel and congressional committees, kept up his criticism of the investigations in a series of tweets today.

Trump demonstrated Friday morning that the Russian Federation probe continues to consume his attention, tweeting a stream of messages decrying the controversy.

Law enforcement sources tell CNN that the special counsel is gathering information and considering whether there is evidence to launch a full-scale obstruction investigation.
Mueller met Wednesday with the leaders of the Senate Intelligence Committee in an effort to ensure their investigations don't conflict.
