The tennis player took to social media on Friday to say that she is devastated because of what happened.

"Her husband of 35 years was struck by Venus Williams, who was at fault in an automobile accident, which ultimately resulted in Mr Barson being hospitalized 14 days with numerous surgical treatments which led to his death".

"I am devastated and heartbroken by this accident", Williams said in a Facebook post.

The victor of seven Grand Slam championships was not using her phone and had not taken drugs or alcohol at the time of the crash, police said.

Police say she was not drunk, on drugs or texting, but that she drove into the Barsons' path.

What went down, per Venus' lawyer Malcolm Cunningham: "Ms. Williams entered the intersection on a green light".

CNN has reported that the victim's family has filed a wrongful death lawsuit against Ms Williams, citing negligence.

At age 33, Redick steps in and fills a significant void when it comes to veteran leadership on the Sixers' roster. In the National Basketball Association these days, that only means one thing.

"Authorities did not issue Ms Williams with any citations or traffic violations". They also say there's no evidence she was distracted by an electronic device. Thus, Venus might have seen the other vehicle while approaching the intersection but failed to stop.

On June 9, last, Williams, 37 years, is committed at the wheel of his 4×4 in an intersection and did not meet the priority. She's a seven-time Grand Slam champion and might just be in a heap of legal trouble.

A report obtained by Reuters said the other driver, Linda Barson, 68, saw her passenger Jerome Barson, 78 injured in the accident and taken to the Florida trauma center.

The victim, Jerome Barson, was the passenger in the auto driven by his wife, Linda.

Investigators say witnesses and Linda Barson, who was driving, told them Williams' 2010 Toyota Sequoia SUV crossed in front of the Barsons' 2016 Hyundai Accent after the couple's light turned green.

The driver of the other vehicle - the wife of the victim - told cops she was approaching an intersection westbound in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida on June 9 when Venus' northbound SUV suddenly darted into the intersection.

The deceased, who was left with a fractured spine and numerous internal injuries after the incident, died on June 22.
