The three-car collision happened near Ardee at around 1am.

THE three women killed in this morning's horrific road crash in Co Louth were travelling home from a dream holiday.

Local reporter Elaine Keogh told RTE's Morning Ireland that it is clear at this stage that the three women who died were travelling in the same vehicle. They were returning to the village of Bruckless, south Donegal, where the local community was said to have been devastated by the tragedy.

Update 10:58am: The three women killed in this morning's crash were from Donegal.

Two men were also seriously injured in the collision and have been taken to Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital in Drogheda.

The film had been rumored and reported on following the success of the first film, but this is the first official word. In the meantime, Wonder Woman will be back on the big screen later this year in Justice League .

A 39-year-old female driver and two female passengers aged 37-years-old and 69-years-old died in the collision.

One of the injured men was also travelling in that auto, while the other was in a second vehicle.

The road will remain closed for the rest of the day and diversions are in place.
