Former premier's wife to stand in Pakistan parliament

Defiant Nawaz Sharif continues GT Road Rally in Lahore

Nawaz Sharif also nicknamed the'Lion of Punjab, addressed the crowd from a makeshift stage

Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Shah Mehmood Qureshi on Friday slammed the Punjab government for ignoring public issues for the sake of PML-N rally.

The incident sparked anger among the residents of Rehmat Abad town who chanted slogans against former premier Nawaz Sharif.

The Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif has said that the former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and the people are inseparable, and their relationship of love can not be dented by the negative politics of the opponents.

Thousands also lined the road to catch a glimpse of the former leader as his convoy rolled down the 2,000-year old trade route which leads from Chittagong in Bangladesh across India and Pakistan to the Afghan capital Kabul.

"The Supreme Court should do justice to Sharif and restore him", he told AFP.

SoundCloud is saved after receiving new funding
The company has secured the investment and Trainor has taken on the position of CEO while Michael Weissman has been named COO. SoundCloud and the uploads of its many rappers, producers, noise bands and nascent podcasts are safe, for now.

The convoy was surrounded by heavy security, amid fears after a truck bomb exploded in Lahore on Monday, killing one person and injuring dozens.

It is the second time in Pakistan's 70-year history that the Supreme Court has disqualified a sitting prime minister.

Supporters gathered in Gujrat voiced frustration over the ex-prime minister's ouster. The top court sacked him last month after an investigation into corruption allegations against him and his family, briefly plunging the nation into political uncertainty. Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz party members Asif Kirmani and Captain Safdar filed the nomination papers of Kulsoom, who is in her late 60s, for the upcoming by-poll for the NA-120 seat at the Election Commission of Pakistan's (ECP) Lahore office, Dawn News reported.

This appears to be a change of plan for the family, who indicated originally that Mr Sharif's younger brother would run for the seat, and then the premiership.

His wife is likely to lead the PML-N in parliament.
