Premier League season starts in style

The 2017-18 Premiere League season started off with an absolute thriller between Arsenal and Leicester City on Friday.

Aaron Ramsey and Olivier Giroud replaced Mohammed Elneny and Rob Holding after 67 minutes and within 20 minutes the Gunners were ahead.

The arrival of Alexandre Lacazette will likely relegate Giroud to the status of a benchwarmer this season but the 30-year-old proved his worth with a towering header in the 85th minute.

"I opened the door for him at some stage as I had many strikers and it's important for him to play but I don't want him to go".

"I don't know if it is two weeks or one more week, but he will not be available". It's fantastic Giroud wants to stay - he made a decision to stay.

Egypt global Mohamed Elneny sent a cross that was met by Lacazette, who headed the ball beyond Kasper Schmeichel.

However, it was Giroud who once again saved the day for Arsenal, showing himself to be the ideal super-sub after excelling in that role for Wenger's side last season.

Lacazette is the seventh Arsenal player to score on his first Premier League appearance.

"People might say he had better players around him but let's not forget that Leicester won the league two years ago".

"I'm always looking for the positives, we came to the Emirates and the players executed the game plan".

Liverpool and Arsenal make bids for Real Madrid ace Marco Asensio
AS now claims that a reliable club source has confirmed that the agreement is all but done and will be announced in the coming days.

Giroud celebrates the late victor.

Arsenal have also reportedly offered Sanchez a new contract worth £300,000-a-week as they look to shut down rumours linking him with a move to Manchester City.

Arsenal continued to dominate possession in the second half, only to concede a another goal in the 55th minute, when Vardy redirected a Riyad Mahrez corner kick past home goalkeeper Petr Cech.

The Frenchman came off the bench to score a dramatic victor as the Gunners beat plucky Leicester 4-3 at the Emirates. Leicester will be happy enough to see that they appear to have the goals in them this season, they just need to tighten up their back line against set pieces.

Carragher said: "Unfortunately, we're talking about referees again. With a bit of work we can get that out of the system".

However, replays suggested that Ozil had used his arm in the build-up to Ramsey's strike. Vardy had the opportunity to join Arsenal after Leicester's title-winning campaign, but he remained and made Arsenal pay with his textbook one-time finish in the 29th minute.

"This has happened to us the last three seasons here". That means there is a familiar pairing up front for the Foxes in the form of Jamie Vardy and Shinji Okazaki. He can be a nuisance for defenders. "We were a threat and played football and contributed to a thoroughly entertaining game".

Giroud has often been a figure of ridicule and has copped plenty of criticism during his tenure in England but his record is one of a dedicated servant to Arsenal.
