The Cowboys running back also said that he disagreed "strongly" with the National Football League, which announced earlier in the day that it was handing him a six-game suspension for violating its personal conduct policy.
"I recognize the distraction and disruption that all of this has caused my family, friends, teammates, the Dallas Cowboys organization as well as my fans - for that I am sincerely sorry". The NFL looked into the case, but couldn't come to any conclusions.
Elliott released a statement on Twitter disagreeing with the suspension.
In addition, Elliott will give up $240,000 per missed game in signing-bonus money if the suspension is upheld. Sources have described him as "upset" about commissioner Roger Goodell's decision to suspend Elliott.
The 2016 National Football League rushing leader was suspended despite prosecutors in Columbus, Ohio, deciding a year ago not to pursue the case involving Elliott's girlfriend at the time in the same city where he starred for Ohio State.
LG V30 Plus might come along with the LG V30
Its expected price tag will be the local Korean equivalent of $875, while the V30 is quite likely getting launched at around $700. LG V30 is becoming official on August 31, just a day before IFA 2017 at Berlin kicks off, that's already old news at this point.
Harvey said Elliott's representatives presented "alternative theories" to how she may have sustained the injuries but did not offer evidence of the injuries occurring under those circumstances. "Although no arrests were made in either episode, the National Football League said that "[even] when a player is not charged with a crime, he may still be found to have violated the [personal conduct] policy if the credible evidence establishes that he engaged in conduct prohibited" by it.
In a letter to Elliott informing him of the league's decision, NFL special counsel for conduct Todd Jones said advisers brought in by the league "were of the view that there is substantial and persuasive evidence supporting a finding that (Elliott) engaged in physical violence against Ms. Thompson on multiple occasions during the week of July 16, 2016".
Said Jones: "If we have to play with other running backs, we like the [other] running backs on this team".
The second-year running back is coming off a sensational rookie season in which he rushed for a Cowboys-rookie-record 1,631 yards and 15 touchdowns en route to his first career Pro Bowl selection.
