At least 15 people were killed and some 25 injured in an attack on an army vehicle in southwestern Pakistan on Saturday night, according to army officials and local media. He said security operation at the blast site has been completed, but it would be premature to comment on the nature of the explosion.

In June at least 12 people were killed and 14 others wounded in a suicide auto attack near the provincial police headquarters.

The huge intensity of the explosion smashed windscreens of many vehicles parked near the blast site. He said it was not immediately clear if it was a suicide blast or a remotely controlled explosive device.

ISPR Director General Major General Asif Ghafoor said in a Twitter post that Chief of the Army Staff has condemned the attack and termed it an attempt to mar the Independence Day Celebrations.
