"The strongest winds are expected across southeast Middle Tennessee between 7 p.m. Monday and 4 a.m. Tuesday morning".
Irma will continue to weaken as it moves northwest. Irma was moving north-northwest at 10 miles per hour with maximum sustained winds of 15 miles per hour. Sustained winds of 20-25 miles per hour are expected during that period, along with gusts of 30-35 miles per hour, said Cullman County Emergency Management Agency Director Phyllis Little. Winds continue to increase through the afternoon.
As of Monday morning, Irma has downgraded to a tropical storm. Heavy rainfall will be likely, especially for areas east of I-65.
The remnants of Irma look to arrive in our region late Monday into Tuesday. "West Alabama's rain totals will be approximately 1-3".
Charlotte can expect heavier rain and wind to move in Monday evening and remain overnight until Tuesday morning. Power outages are possible as early as Sunday night through Tuesday morning.

According to the National Weather Service, A Wind Advisory has been issued for Alexander and surrounding counties, including Avery, Iredell, Davie, Madison, Yancey, Mitchell, Swain, Haywood, Buncombe, Catawba, Rowan, Graham, Lincoln, Gaston, Mecklenburg, Cabarrus, Union, Caldwell, Burke, McDowell, York, and Chester counties.
The tornado threat for the Triad area is very low. However, in flood-prone areas where rainfall tends to accumulate at a fast pace, flash flood conditions should be locally monitored.
