It's GameDay: Football Ready for Loud SEC Opener

Mississippi State earned its first win over LSU in Starkville since 1999 Saturday night.

LSU (2-1, 0-1 SEC) had 9 penalties for 112 yards, including two touchdowns called back and two players ejected for targeting. Darrel Williams had five rushes for 29 yards and LSU's only touchdown.

LSU's conference opener is not going the way many expected with the Tigers down 17-7 to Mississippi State.

Florida nursing home where 8 died closed to residents amid investigation
Local officials say the person who died early Tuesday had a do-not-resuscitate order and was taken directly to a funeral home. But they didn't anticipate they would still have to fight the intense heat with fans and portable air conditioner units.

With tensions high pre-game highlighted by a midfield-scuffle, LSU and Mississippi State took it to the field in what is a defensive battle in the first half.

Derrius Guice ran for 76 yards on 15 carries for LSU, but the Tigers were penalized 12 times for 158 yards.

On the Tigers' opening drive, a 66 yard touchdown pass from senior quarterback Danny Etling to senior receiver DJ Chark was wiped off the board due to offensive pass interference. He also threw for 180 yards and another two scores.
