Fresh from a stressful summer fighting to retain the services of Philippe Coutinho, who was subject to a £138m bid from Barcelona, Liverpool now face the prospect of Mane being subject to similar interest from across Europe.
The Brazilian made his first start of the season for the club in a 1-1 draw with Burnley on Saturday, after which Coutinho spoke for the first time about this summer's events.
"But as I have always said, it is a great offer to receive an offer from such a great club like that. Liverpool are a great club".
"It was a hard month for me, but now it's all over and I must focus on having a good season, helping my team, thinking about Liverpool and the national team", he continued.
Burundi refugees killed in Congo clashes
In the wake of the killings, Burundi's Foreign Minister Alain Aimé Nyamitwe took to Twitter demanding answers. The Burundian protesters, she said, "were not happy because four of them have been expelled from Congo".
"It was a complicated month for me, but as I've said, it's a honour to receive that offer, but it also an honour to wear this shirt". It is all cool.
Liverpool declined to sell Luis Suárez in 2013 before, having been repaid by an outstanding campaign from the Uruguay worldwide, allowing him to join Barcelona for £75m the following summer. I'm focused on working hard and to have a good year if possible.
Asked whether Liverpool had reached the same compromise, he replied: "Not that I know of".
"I'm in a place that I've always been respected by everyone and I've respected everyone too, through this four, five years I've never had any problems with anybody here", he said. I've always respected the support very much of the groups. That has not changed. I received a job offer, like in life whatever work you do. "It is all in the past".
