Rt Hon Keith Vaz, British MP and the British Parliament's longest-serving British Asian MP. was the one who conferred this award to Salman Khan.

While praising Salman for his great contribution to the global diversity, Keith said, "The Global Diversity Award is given to people of huge stature in terms of what they have done for diversity in the world, and he is certainly one of them". The 51-year-old actor got this award for his contribution as an actor and philanthropist. Vaz said that besides his work as an actor, Salman has done a lot in supporting underprivileged section of India through his NGO Being Human.

On receiving such honour, the "Tubelight" star said, "My father would never have believed that I would make it here. I can not tell you what the true story is, as Adi (Aditya Chopra) will kill me!"
