Shiv Sena slams BJP over Maratha reservation delay

The announcement of Ahmedabad-Mumbai bullet train has received mixed reactions from the people of Mumbai, but they were unanimous in their demand for reforms in Mumbai's local trains over the introduction of a bullet train. The train is expected to cut the journey time from the current six hours to less than three hours.

While Modi called the project as a harbinger of change, the Congress called the bullet train as a "chunavi bullet train" (election bullet train) as Gujarat, the home state of Modi, is all set to host the Assembly elections later this year.

"My good friend Prime Minister Narendra Modi is a farsighted leader". Singh said rather than high-speed trains, safety of regular trains was more important given the recent accidents.

Both the Congress and the Shiv Sena questioned the objective behind launching the train.

It also criticized that the bullet train project was being fast tracked even as there were a number of railway projects in Vidharbha, Konkan and Marathwada that were yet to commence.

Special Counsel Mueller Is Investigating Facebook Ads Linked To Russia
Facebook said approximately one-quarter of the ads were geographically targeted and ran mostly in 2015 rather than 2016. Facebook recently revealed bogus Russian-linked accounts bought $100,000 worth of politically charged ads on its site.

The state has asked the Centre and railway ministry to adjust the Rs 125 crore preliminary share of the state in the Ahmedabad-Mumbai bullet train project with the cost of the plot of land in BKC.

"Jawaharlal Nehru laid the foundation for several projects, from the Bhakra Nangal to the Bhabha Atomic Research Centre, to ensure the country advanced in technology and science". "All those projects were needed by the country".

"Prime Minister Narendra Modi conducted a road show with Japanese Prime Minister Schinzo Abe, after which the foundation stone was laid for the bullet train".

But what is most amusing is the urge to constantly draw comparisons between the issue of dilapidated railways and need for a bullet train.

Even a group of farmers from Boisar in Palghar district of Maharashtra protested against the project fearing acquisition of their lands. Moreover, the newly-appointed Railway Minister Piyush Goyal - who is also the BJP treasurer - has been specifically brought in only for this project, the Sena said, adding "as part of the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party's "policy of transparency". "We are not against development".
