Firefighters evacuated 158 people from the nursing home. Five others died in hospital.

In Hollywood, the Rehabilitation Center said the hurricane had knocked out a transformer that powered the air conditioning.
Gov. Rick Scott's office released a statement Friday, saying the Rehabilitation Center at Hollywood Hills had not reported that conditions at its facility had become unsafe for patients. One resident died at the facility Tuesday but, because the patient had a do-not-resuscitate order, was sent to a funeral home before police asked for the body, according to police.
It wouldn't last long.

Friday afternoon, the state's Agency for Health Care Administration said conditions at the facility present a threat to the safety of residents and it suspended the nursing home indefinitely from taking patients paid for by Florida Medicaid. "It is 100 percent the governor's responsibility to do everything in his power protect every Floridian". To make matters worse, an additional 18 people from an adjoining facility were also relocated because of the investigation.
Scrutiny has also settled on the nursing home's owner, Dr. Jack Michel.

After the hurricane passed, a deputy took her back home and another brought her food. In addition, there are more than 3,100 assisted living facilities with over 99,000 beds.
