Kevin Patra of NFL.com reported that the 34-year-old veteran suffered a broken arm and a torn ACL, both in the same play, during Sunday's game against the New York Giants.

This news comes the day after the Eagles placed Darren Sproles on injured reserve with a season-ending knee injury. That left the Eagles with a major opening on the roster, specifically in the return game. In a limited role, he had 129 yards and two touchdowns on 27 carries in his final season in Philadelphia. He has found more success as a return man with a 25-yard return on average. Last season, Barner returned two punts for 22 yards, and nine kicks for 277 yards (30.8 yards per return).

After being Drafted by the Carolina Panthers, depth was an issue, and he moved to Philadelphia to begin his NFL Career with a familiar face in Chip Kelly, his former coach at Oregon.

The mobile home belonged to 24-year-old Brianna Calderas, who was arrested with 18-year-olds Isis Schauer and Andrew Vrba . Though no motive has been offered, authorities say that Steinfeld's being transgender had nothing to do with her death.

Following preseason the Eagles added quarterback Nate Sudfeld to the practice squad from the Washington Redskins - who they were set to play one week later. He also had three punt returns for 19 yards and 10 kickoff returns for 287 yards.

Despite that encouraging production, the Eagles let Barner walk in free agency and opted to roll with Sproles, LeGarrette Blount, Wendell Smallwood and undrafted free agent Corey Clement in the backfield.
