Tennessee Gov. Haslam won't run for Corker's Senate seat

Who is Bob Corker? Republican Senator Said Tillerson Separates America From 'Chaos'

I'm politically incorrect, and proud of it.

I'm Marsha Blackburn. I'm a hard core, card carrying Tennessee conservative.

Blackburn has made her own critical comments about "inappropriate and pointless tweets" from the president, but was quick to embrace the Trump agenda in her campaign announcement video.

This is Tennessee's hardworking and thoughtful Republican senator sounding the alarm about a President that continues to do more harm than good. "I say bring it on", said Blackburn.

"If I had to bet, based on what the president has signaled he's interested in doing in terms of his rhetoric in other cases, that would seem to be the most likely outcome", Chad Brown, a trade expert with the Peterson Institute for International Economics, told Axios in an interview yesterday.

Blackburn, 65, has served in the House since 2003. In 2016, Trump defeated Hillary Clinton in the state by a 61 percent to 35 percent margin, winning 92 of the state's 95 counties. We wish Congressman Blackburn all the best and look forward to seeing her on the campaign trail across Tennessee. Bob Corker, who announced his retirement in September.

Marsha Blackburn announced her candidacy Thursday for U.S. Senate, on the heels of incumbent Bob Corker's decision to retire. The announcement came after a series of articles published at Breitbart News that pointed out the political vulnerabilities Haslam would have in such a run.

State Sen. Mark Green, who withdrew as Trump's nominee for Army secretary earlier this year amid criticism of his comments about gay and transgender people, said he will run for Blackburn's House seat.

In the video, Blackburn also said that the U.S. Senate had become completely dysfunctional, while claiming that she could help fix the problem by being a clear conservative voice.
