Authorities in West Jordan, Utah said someone noticed the boy was alone in the maze Monday night and brought the boy to the attention of the maze staff.

Police in Utah are investigating after a mother left her 3-year-old at a corn maze and didn't realize he was missing for 12 hours.

A three-year-old boy was left in a corn maze overnight because his parents didn't realise he was gone until the next morning.

'Sounds like this is a dwelling with multiple families and a lot of children living in the same home, ' he said.

Police told the parents that DCFS had the boy. After closing time, the owners took the boy to the police station and officers then contacted the state's Child and Family Services.

Once they found the child, they tried to find his parents, but nobody came forward.

Police on Tuesday praised the actions of the person who found the boy.

No charges have been filed but police are still investigating.

'What's odd to me is they didn't notice when they got home, or noticed by bedtime, or noticed in the night, ' Schmidt said to KUTV.
