Police told the parents that DCFS had the boy. After closing time, the owners took the boy to the police station and officers then contacted the state's Child and Family Services.
Once they found the child, they tried to find his parents, but nobody came forward.
Police on Tuesday praised the actions of the person who found the boy.
No charges have been filed but police are still investigating.
'What's odd to me is they didn't notice when they got home, or noticed by bedtime, or noticed in the night, ' Schmidt said to KUTV.
