In a crowded superhero movie landscape, how is 20th Century Fox going to make The New Mutants stick out?

Held in a secret facility against their will, five new mutants have to battle the dangers of their powers, as well as the sins of their past.

Granted, we've expected as much about Boone's (The Fault in Our Stars) upcoming spinoff since at least May, when the writer/director described the film as a "full-fledged horror movie set within the X-Men universe". Not only that, but for those expecting a comic book movie in the vein of what we've seen from the X-Men franchise thus far, think again, as this is more similar to something straight out of a nightmare, with plenty of scares and chills to be found.

It's finally here! After being teased yesterday afternoon, the first teaser trailer for New Mutants is out and looks electrifying. He's even stated that he doesn't like most horror films, but he wrote The New Mutants with Knate Lee and is known to be a big Stephen King fan.

"Whilst it's definitely a departure from the X-Men movies, the fans won't be disappointed".

The film is written and directed by Josh Boone and stars Anya Taylor-Joy as Illyana Rasputin/Magik, Maisie Williams as Rahne Sinclair/Wolfsbane, Charlie Heaton as Sam Guthrie/Cannonball, Blu Hunt as Danielle Moonstar/Mirage, Henry Zaga as Roberto da Costa/Sunspot, and Alice Braga as Dr. Cecilia Reyes.
