Tampa police: third Seminole Heights killing in under two weeks likely connected to the others

At a news conference Friday, interim Tampa police Chief Brian Dugan said it was "clear to me" that all three deaths were connected. "I was convinced that we were going to catch this person", said Chief Dugan.

"It's the most terrible feeling that you can feel, that you know that your child is dead, and you have these people [are] coming to let you know, to confirm for you", said Maria Rodriguez, Naiboa's stepmother.

Hoffa was found in a vacant parking lot half a mile from where the body of Benjamin Mitchell, the first fatality in the string of homicides, was found.

A $25,000 reward is being offered for information leading to an arrest in the recent Seminole Heights killings.

Although cops won't say outright they suspect a serial killer, they believe the three murders are linked.

Police had been patrolling nearby; they were close enough to hear the shots. "It's just hard to see this happening", he said. Police believe she died October 11. "If that brings attention to it, that's fine".

The shootings have frightened people living and working in the area.

"People will be scared to come in", said Marez George, who works at a local cafe.

Investigators are now checking local houses and businesses looking for security cameras that might have captured images around the time of the shootings.

Investigators reportedly found a man near where Mitchell was murdered on surveillance video, and are now in search of him.

Dugan said they rushed to the area, where they found Anthony Taino Naiboa dead on the sidewalk, about 100 yards (91 meters) from where one of the other victims was killed. "That's where it starts, with that video right there".

In part, the police presence is to help the neighborhood feel at ease, but also so officers can continue to probe for what people may have seen. Either a possible victim, or a possible suspect.

Southeast Seminole Heights is roughly bordered by Nebraska Avenue to the west, 15th Street to the east, Hillsborough Avenue to the north and Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. 'I go from frustration to anger on these unsolved homicides.

But even for those who do not have information, Dugan urged residents to stand up to whoever is victimizing the neighborhood. And they've asked residents to leave porch light and other external lights on at night.
