Liverpool have been subjected to yet another setback, as Sadio Mane, who recently returned to Premier League action from a suspension and a minor injury, suffered another injury during the global break, and is now set to miss another six weeks.
The Senegalese federation stated Mane had "slightly felt his old injury" and returned to his club to continue treatment. His last outing also came versus Bafana Bafana.
Mane featured in the Reds' win at West Ham on November 4 after five games out with a hamstring problem, and then lined up for Senegal on Friday as they beat South Africa 2-0 to seal a place at next year's World Cup.
Mane will now miss the dead rubber match with South Africa, though it is currently unknown whether the injury has flared up to an extent that it will keep him out of action once more.
Bieber's ex makes The Weeknd busy
As if that wasn't confusing enough, some eagle-eyed fans now claim that Selena has been liking The Weeknd's Instagram posts again. And we're not just saying that because Justin Bieber is back in the picture.
After talks between the Senegal and Liverpool medical staff, it's been determined that the winger will return to Melwood for further assessment and treatment on the injury.
The Senegal Football Association have confirmed Mane made the trip back to Merseyside from their camp, after feeling signs of the hamstring injury which had kept him out of Jurgen Klopp's plans for several weeks.
Liverpool will be hoping he can recover in time for Saturday's home fixture against Southampton, although the length of his potential absence has not been disclosed yet. It remains to be seen if Mane will be fit enough to face his former team this weekend.
