Firefox Quantum with faster browser engine is now available to everyone

Firefox Quantum 57 Is Here To Kill Google Chrome: Download For Windows, Mac, Linux

Firefox Quantum arrives with faster browser engine, major visual overhaul, and Google as default search engine

Thus, Firefox Quantum is here, and Mozilla hopes the browser, after two months of beta testing, is ready to woo internet users. The result: a significant speed increase.

One of the reasons why people switched from Firefox to Google Chrome was speed. Firefox 57 combines the address and search bars - for new installations at least; existing users who miss the latter can restore it - reduces the clutter at the top of the window, and debuts a reworked new tab page. Indeed, three of the four past releases (Firefox 53, Firefox 54, and Firefox 55) included Quantum improvements.

Quantum can also prioritise the tab you're actively using. The organization claims that Firefox Quantum is twice as fast as Firefox from six months ago, built with brand-new technology running native 64-bit, all while using 30 percent less RAM than the competition (read: Chrome).

That was a remarkably terse explanation after the way Mozilla and Yahoo publicized their partnership in November 2014, when they signed a multi-million dollar deal that was to run five years. If you don't, maybe it's time to give Mozilla's alternative browser another shot.

Google will be Firefox's default search provider on desktop and mobile in the United States, Canada, Hong Kong and Taiwan, said Mozilla spokewoman Erica Jostedt.

D'Angelo Russell 'likely to miss several games' with knee injury
In the season opener, Jeremy Lin tore the patella tendon in his right knee and underwent season-ending surgery. The Nets acquired Russell in the offseason in what was largely a salary dump by the Los Angeles Lakers .

According to a blog post, Mozilla's year-long overhaul changed or added over 11 million lines of code, though it's not clear if "changed" includes "deleted" (presumably it does).

In 2014, Mozilla struck a deal with Yahoo to make it the default search engine provider for users in the USA, with Google, Bing, DuckDuckGo and others as options. Starting with Firefox 57, the browser will come with a slew of new algorithms baked in to make itself twice as fast as previous versions from earlier this year. Firefox once accounted for a quarter of the world's user share, but dipped as low as 8% in the summer of 2016. Mozilla's also extensively updated the browser engine, the internal components responsible for displaying webpages, applying styles and handling interactive elements.

What are your views on Firefox Quantum? It took a year for Firefox to finish the undertaking.

Firefox Quantum is out now and works across Windows, Mac and Linux with the new look rolling out on iOS and Android too.
