Apparently, the movie's grand premiere at Lahore had to be canceled because the movie is struggling to get clearance from Pakistan's censor board.

Previous reports by Samaa indicated that the ban had been lifted and the film is all set to be released tomorrow as scheduled. Due to the ban of Pakistani actors in Hindi cinema, the actress was unable to promote the film in India.

The SBFC secretary general said that the movie hasn't yet been issued censor certificate as the board is waiting for the Central Board of Film Censors (CBFC) to opine about it and deliver its verdict accordingly. "But there is a process that every film has to go through before it is cleared by the CBFC", Information Minister Maryam Aurangzeb told media in Islamabad.

A member of the Punjab Censor Board said that they had found several objectionable scenes in the film. "Firstly, it shows a governor's son involved in a rape case which was the biggest objection". The film is directed by Shoaib Mansoor, who is known for his hard-hitting movies like Bol and Khuda Kay Liye. Its subject tackles with rape and how the protagonist, played by Khan fights for her rights. However, according to the latest news reports the fate of Verna has still not been decided as film's team rejected the cuts and amendments by the film board and the film is expected to undergo another review.
