After the surprise announcement of new lead Singer Jeff Gut, and a surprise show at the famous Los Angeles venue the Troubadour, Stone Temple Pilots have released the first new song from this lineup of the band, "Meadow" as reported by effect of Sound. Linkin Park singer Chester Bennington sang lead for the band from 2013 to 2015. STP has released a new single with Gutt, "Meadow", and plans to release a new album during the spring of 2018, with a tour to follow.
After a lengthy search for a lead singer, STP settled on the former X-Factor contestant Gutt, who unsurprisingly channels the late Scott Weiland in his vocal delivery.
STP says the band found Gutt through word of mouth and not the audition process. A member of the Detroit rock scene, Gutt was the only one of the 30 vocalists to tryout who didn't submit an online audition - his invitation came after Robert DeLeo heard about Gutt while in Detroit for a show with the Hollywood Vampires.
Stone Temple Pilots had put out a call for a new singer and received around 15,000 submissions but Gutt was invited to audition after bassist Robert DeLeo was introduced to him while playing in MI.

"No one will ever fill Scott's shoes and I'm not trying to - he's a legend", Gutt said. "It took some time, but we found our guy", Stone Temple Pilots guitarist Dean DeLeo said in a press release.
Last night's concert featured the debut of "Meadow". "But these songs deserve to be performed and people want to hear them".
The special invitation-only concert for SiriusXM listeners at The Troubadour - which featured the live debut of "Meadow" - marked the beginning of a new journey for the band, one that began previous year when they launched a worldwide search for a new singer with whom to write, record, and tour.
