George Clooney to make a comeback on television with Catch-22

George Clooney to Direct and Star in 'Catch-22' Series From Paramount TV

George Clooney Will Star in and Direct 'Catch 22' Series

Clooney, who left popular medical drama ER almost 20 years ago, will direct and star in the six-episode series, based on United States author Joseph Heller's darkly comedic 1961 novel of the same name.

George Clooney is ready to return to the small screen! Richard Brown and Steve Golin will serve as executive producers, along with Clooney and Heslov.

Catch-22 tells the story of Yossarian, an USA bomber pilot in World War II.

Set in Italy during World War II, the novel follows USA soldier Yossarian, fighting against a seemingly endless number of missions in order to be discharged from duty.

The announcement was made by Paramount Television, who will be backing the show which has yet to be acquired by a network for distribution.

Rs5 crore bounty for Deepika Padukone, Bhansali as Padmavati row continues
Members of the Rajput outfit had attacked Mr Bhansali earlier this year while he was shooting in Jaipur and later in Mumbai . Deepika recently wrapped the filming of her upcoming film, Padmavati and began promoting the film at various platforms.

Clooney will be playing the conniving United States army colonel Cathcart.

Clooney will not play the lead character, but Commander Colonel Cathcart - the novel's main antagonist and a military hypocrite. In an infuriating bureaucratic paradox called a "catch-22", a phrase coined in Heller's text, Yossarian's only way to avoid the missions is to declare insanity, but by indicating an unwillingness to embark on unsafe missions he demonstrates a rational, sane mind.

Clooney and Heslov are repped by CAA.

The mini-series will be scripted by War Machine writer David Michod and Luke Davies, who was nominated for an Oscar earlier this year for adaptating the family drama Lion.
