Jose Mourinho, the Manchester United manager, has angrily questioned England's decision to give injured defender Phil Jones six anaesthetic injections before last week's global friendly against Germany.
The 25-year-old centre-back aggravated a thigh injury in the first half of last Friday's 0-0 draw and could be out for up to three weeks.
Tottenham's Harry Kane, Dele Alli and Harry Winks, as well as Manchester City pair Raheem Sterling and Fabian Delph, pulled out of Southgate's squad ahead of the friendlies against Germany and Brazil. But Phil Jones had it and had it before the match and after 15 minutes he was out and now is out for us.
"I'm not an angel and I've had players to be injected to play official matches and crucial matches".
Mourinho has learned Jones had SIX injections to play in England's friendly with Germany.
Mourinho expressed his frustration at the national team's use of Jones and described himself as "naive" in comparison to other Premier League coaches who withdraw players carrying injuries from global selection.

"As a manager, since 2000, in 17 years I don't have one single player that has injections of anaesthetic to play a friendly".
"If any player is ready for Saturday there is something odd".
"I'm just telling a fact". He was injected in the afternoon of the match.
Manchester United face Newcastle in the late kick off today and although Jones is not fit, Mourinho has been boosted by the return of: Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Paul Pogba and Marcos Rojo. 'I'm really good at forgetting little things, bad words or moments of conflict, ' said Mourinho.
For 36-year-old Ibrahimovic it represents an incredible recovery from a ruptured cruciate ligament in his right knee just seven months ago.
Pogba, meanwhile, impressed during United's excellent start to the campaign and Mourinho admits that since the midfielder's injury against Basel, his side have not looked the same without him.
"All the other matches Manchester City plays, we can not interfere".
