Jude Law Lands 'Captain Marvel' Male Lead Role

The whole Captain/Ms. Marvel thing could event be skipped over in the film by having Law's Kree Warrior be known as simply Mar-Vell and providing Danvers with the inspiration for her nom de guerre. Per Variety, Jude Law is in negotiations to play the male lead opposite Oscar-winner Brie Larson in Marvel Studios' Captain Marvel.

First Marvel announced a Captain Marvel movie, and we were excited. A Security Chief in the United States air force, Danvers would later be transformed into the superhero Ms. Marvel following an explosion involving Kree technology.

Law also recently joined another major franchise, the Harry Potter movies, taking on the role of young Albus Dumbledore in Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald.

In the comics, Carol Danvers aka Captain Marvel was a test pilot who gained super strength and the ability to fly after being caught in an explosion with a Kree device.

With the Kree-Skrull War coming to the MCU, it only makes sense for Mar-Vell to make his way to Earth to help stop the invasion in Captain Marvel. He would join Samuel L. Jackson is will play a two-eyed Nick Fury and Ben Mendelsohn is set to play the film's villain.

There's no word on what character Law would be playing but early word is that he would be a mentor of sorts to Larson's character in the film.

Captain Marvel is expected to film next year and opens in theaters on March 8, 2019.
