The incident was captured on camera after which Mumbai police took to social networking site Twitter and tagged Varun's handle saying, "The roads of Mumbai!".

Both, Varun and the fan came out of their window to take a selfie in mid of traffic.

The Mumbai Police tweet was retweeted over 2,900 times with the number of likes nearly touching 4,000.

Since Mumbai Police joined Twitter, they have proven to be one of the country's zaniest, coolest and wittiest accounts - that also has zero appetite for bullshit. It ends with the police directly telling Dhawan that an e-challan is on the way to his house. You have risked your life, your admirer's [life] and a few others.

"These adventures surely work on D silver screen but certainly not on the roads of Mumbai", warned Mumbai police to Judwaa 2 actor Varun Dhawan. "We expect better from a responsible Mumbaikar and a youth icon like you!"

Within two hours, the tweet by Mumbai Police received around 3,500 retweets. "...but next time I'll keep safety in mind and won't encourage this", he tweeted.
