In the third installment of the Arizona Bowl, the game will feature two sets of Aggies.

The bowl is also a milestone for New Mexico State, as the invitation breaks a 57-year bowl drought for USU's former conference colleague.

Utah State finished the regular season 6-6 after losing to Air Force 38-35.

Gronkowski delivered an elbow to White's head despite White laying partially out of bounds after the interception. Taylor's status is uncertain. "You could see it on his face, the expressions he was making", McCoy said.

Utah State and New Mexico State have a history in bowl games, as NMSU posted a 20-13 win against Utah State in the 1960 Sun Bowl in El Paso, Texas.

The two Aggie teams most recently met in 2012, during USU's previous year in the WAC, with Utah State winning 41-7.

CSU is 1-3 over its last four games after a 4-0 start to conference play. The schools have been conference foes for 26 seasons while each were members of the Mountain West Conference, Sun Belt and Western Athletic Conference over the years. Utah State last played in a bowl game in 2015.

It was an emotional win for a program that has come a long way in Head Coach Doug Martin's tenure.

"If you stick us too far back east, then it becomes a financial issue with our fans and if you're obligated to buy X number of tickets and we can't sell them to our fans, then it becomes a costly enterprise", New Mexico State chancellor Garrey Carruthers told the station.
