New England Patriots Tight End Rob Gronkowski Suspended One Game for Late Hit on Bills Cornerback Tre'Davious White

Gronkowski dove into White as the rookie cornerback lay face-down after a fourth-quarter interception in Sunday's 23-3 loss to New England, driving his left arm into the back of White's helmet. People don't think about that when they just react, you know?

As for the National Football League issuing Gronkowski a one-game suspension for the hit last Sunday, White turned away from the television cameras and muttered: "It's a joke, dog".

The first-team All-Pro tight end would apologize to White after the game and explain that he was just frustrated because of the lack of calls going his way.

Asked what he's heard from Gronkowski since the play, White said, "Nothing". Dirty shot, so what does that make him? "He is what he did", White said.

Mike Rodak of passed along the comments from White, who added "I got a son [to raise]", after Bills head coach Sean McDermott announced Thursday the defensive back cleared the concussion protocol.

"The thing that surprised me just as much ... we didn't retaliate".

Miocic-Ngannou title fight eyed for UFC 220
Miocic has defended his title twice since defeating then-champion Fabricio Werdum via first-round knockout at UFC 198 in May 2016. Alistair Overeem was on the wrong end of a brutal knockout in his co-main event fight against Francis Ngannou at UFC 218.

Gronkowski apologized for the hit following the game by saying he acted out of frustration. "I'm not in the business of that. A dirty player. Simple", White said. "There was a lot of frustration".

White was also not buying Gronkowski's explanation after the game that it was done in the heat of the moment. When you see a shot like that, I don't care ... "I don't really believe in any types of shots like that but just through the frustration process - the game of football - emotions, (it's) what happened".

White said Thursday he had no comment about a text he sent to ESPN NFL analyst Ryan Clark, which Clark shared on ESPN Radio this week. "His intentions were what he did, so, no".

After the game, Gronkowski told reporters that he wanted to apologize to White.

"That's between me and Ryan". "Man, I don't know what to say on that".
