After the allegation was reported, Anderson and his attorney immediately denied the claim.

"There are certainly cases where we simply can't prove this case it was important to tell the whole story so people understand the facts that were presented to us", Mashburn said. She said she feared for her safety.

Anderson leads Oklahoma with 960 rushing yards and 11 rushing touchdowns this season. She had filed an order of protection against him.

"She told the police upon inquiring that she did not want the sexual activity that occurred, at least in the bedroom, but she never communicated to Mr. Anderson in any way to let him know she did not want to do this", Cleveland County prosecutor Susan Caswell said.

During a news conference, investigators with the district attorney's office say that information provided to them by the Norman Police Department made them believe that no charges were warranted. "She said that she had vomited but meant to brush her teeth and go back and kiss him some more".

In an era when accusations of sexual misconduct are ending careers every week, a false rape accusation against a high-profile college football player in Oklahoma is an example of a woman attempting to use benefit of the doubt to ruin a man's life.

The last several text messages Thornton sent to Anderson, which were suggestions from her that they get together, were not replied to by Anderson.

The friend told police that the woman "sounded tipsy, but not drunk". After about two weeks, the woman said she was starting to remember that her actions with Anderson weren't consensual. Anderson was scheduled to appear in court December 18 for a hearing that will determine if the order is extended.

"It was their understanding that they had a good time and [the woman] was hoping to have a romantic relationship with him", Caswell said. "We are confident that when authorities have all of the information surrounding this circumstance, Mr. Anderson will be completely exonerated of any wrongdoing, and he looks forward to the conclusion of this investigation so he can focus on his obligations as a student-athlete". On Thursday, before Mashburn's press conference, Lincoln Riley said Anderson was "still fully on the team."
