First Venom Image Gives Us A Good Look At Reporter Eddie Brock

Venom Brazil Comic Con Footage Arrives Online

The first official pic of the Venom movie is here, and it's... fine? But wait! Enhance!

Venom debuts in theaters on October 5. I'll be honest with you: it's not really a particularly shocking pic since Eddie Brock is just an average guy about Tom Hardy's age, so it kiiiinda just looks like Tom Hardy as. well, Tom Hardy. The photo shows Hardy as reporter Eddie Brock and holding a notebook that, if you flip the image upside down and zoom in, reveals some plot details about the Sony-Marvel movie (which is a standalone film that's not expected to include Tom Holland's Spider-Man). In the comics, the Life Foundation was introduced as a shady government body who believed that the Cold War would result in a widespread nuclear holocaust.

The pad itself makes specific reference to a "foundation" dealing with pharmaceutical testing, and while this could, in all seriousness, be making reference to any other foundation, chances are it's our first confirmation that the Life Foundation will be pulling the strings in Sony's Venom film. But not as Venom, the black suit alien symbiote.

Hardy and the film's director Ruben Fleischer offered the tease at Brazil Comic Con Experience, but that teaser was limited to the people in the room on that day - until now.

Mark Wahlberg refused to approve Christopher Plummer unless he was paid
Scott previously told USA Today that he "refused to get paid" for the reshoots, adding that the actors "did it for nothing". As per reports , for the 9-day shoot, the actor was paid Rs 9.5 crore ($1.5 million).

Earlier rumours for the Venom film indicated that it would be taking inspiration from the "Lethal Protector" story-arc, a comic where the Symbiote took on a more anti-heroic style and fought against the villainous "Life Foundation".

The second entry in Brock's notebook reads: "What about the allegations your empire is built on?". In any case, it looks like we've figured out this movie's villains. Or will Venom instead be created by them, with Eddie Brock then turned into its host?

The question is though, will fans get to see the five symbiotes in the Venom movie, or will they have to wait for Scream, Agony, Phage, Riot, and Lasher to appear in the film's sequel?
