Nearly a year back, JNU student Najeeb Ahmed went missing from the Mahi-Mandvi hostel of the university following a scuffle with some other students, allegedly affiliated to the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP).
His family has told police that he was last seen exiting the JNU east gate on Monday around 12.30 pm, according to the CCTV footage provided to them by the university. Upon going through the CCTV footage of the campus, authorities found clips showing Jain leaving through Gate no. 4. His phone and other belongings were found in the laboratory where he used to work.
