Buffalo Bills at Miami Dolphins: Three Keys to the Game

This past Sunday the Bills beat the Miami Dolphins 22-16, and with a little help from the Ravens losing, Buffalo clinched a playoff berth.

The Bills had to wait to see if they'd get a ticket to the dance - they wrapped up their win over the Dolphins in Florida before the Bengals-Ravens game had ended.

Golf great Jack Nicklaus watched his grandson score a touchdown as the Buffalo Bills snapped the longest current non-playoff drought in North American pro sports. They will travel to Jacksonville next weekend.

The running back was carted off in the third quarter of the Week 17 win over the Miami Dolphins with a sprained ankle.

The Bills' last playoff game was not a happy day in their history. On the Bills first offensive possession, Taylor threw a very nice 26 yard touchdown pass to a wide-open O'Leary.

Miami benched quarterback Jay Cutler after just one series, and it was the inexperienced David Fales who led the late charge. McCoy ran for 714 yards and five touchdowns in nine Buffalo wins. Yet, he completed 29-of-42 passes for 265 yards with one interception and one touchdown pass against Buffalo.

On Sunday, Jan. 14, Pittsburgh hosts the early game, then the round concludes in Minnesota.

The Ravens took their first lead, 27-24, on a 6-yard touchdown pass from Joe Flacco to Mike Wallace with 8:48 left in the game.

Buffalo had two scenarios and a 12% chance to make the playoffs when Sunday began. One of the things that stand out, that brought a tear to my eye, was when they showed me the reaction of fans at different restaurants and different get together places that were going on out there.

"It's very similar to having the anvil that we had for my whole 20-year career about the team staying in Buffalo - that anvil, I always said we threw into Lake Erie when [owners] Terry and Kim [Pegula] bought the team, and now we have another anvil we can throw in Lake Erie", team president Russ Brandon, who has been with the Bills since 1997, said after the game.

None other than a 300 pound defensive tackle in Kyle Williams who is considered the heart and soul of the team.

Landry also acknowledged the ejections hurt Miami's comeback bid.

That ruling was reversed on video review, and Landry scored on the next play on a 1-yard pitch. The Dolphins also lost their most promising rookie, linebacker Raekwon McMillan, to a season-ending knee injury in the first exhibition game.

Drake and Landry were flagged for unsportsmanlike-conduct penalties and disqualified from further participation.

Miami's Jarvis Landry seemed to instigate a wild scene in the final minutes of the fourth quarter.

The undefeated season was in 1972, and the Dolphins' most recent National Football League title came a year later. Bills CB Shareece Wright (concussion) sat out. Both have carved out unique roles within the framework of the Bills passing game. They'll likely drop more high draft picks and millions of dollars into a part of the team that has been invested in more than any team has invested in anything in that time.

Tannehill is expected to return as the starter in 2018, but there are doubts about his durability after two serious injuries to his left knee since December 2016.
