Soldiers open fire on stone-throwing demonstrators in Gaza and the West Bank, killing two teens and wounding others.

Friday's clashes came as thousands gathered in al-Maghazi for the funeral for a 16-year-old boy, Amir Abu Musaid, who was killed by Israeli forces during a protest east of al-Boreij refugee camp. More than a hundred Palestinians were treated for smoke and gas inhalation after the Israeli soldiers deployed tear gas and smoke grenades.

It has been the largest incidence of fire from Gaza since the 2014 Israel-Hamas war.

The Trump administration's endorsement of settlements in the occupied West Bank is another factor behind the rise in tensions between Ramallah and Washington.

"An Israeli father of six was killed last night in cold blood by Palestinian terrorists", Friedman said on Twitter on Wednesday after a 35-year-old was killed near an illegal Israeli settlement near Nablus.

Israeli settlements violate the Fourth Geneva Convention, which states that an occupying power can not transfer its population into the territory it occupies.

In addition to recognizing Jerusalem as Israel's capital in early December, Trump said the United States would move its embassy from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem.

Israel's occupation of East Jerusalem effectively put the entire city under de facto Israeli control.

A statement released by the European Union said the move jeapordises the viability of a future Palestininan state, and called on Israel to "reconsider and reverse" the decision. Israeli jurisdiction and ownership of Jerusalem, however, is not recognised by the worldwide community.
