Donald Trump physical exam results: President in 'excellent health,' doctor says

White House doctor Ronny Jackson says President Donald Trump is "in excellent health" following his physical Friday.

Later today, Donald Trump will undergo an examination at the Walter Reed Medical Center in Bethesda, Maryland, which is just outside Washington DC.

Jackson is expected to speak to reporters on the results of the exam during Tuesday's press briefing.

But what has been a fairly routine exam for previous presidents has taken on outsized importance in the age of Trump, given the tone of some of his tweets, comments attributed to some of his close advisers and Trump's recent slurring of words on national TV.

There is a long history of the White House picking and choosing what to reveal about the Commander-in-Chief's health, said Barbara Perry, director of presidential studies at the University of Virginia's Miller Center. Information about the president's health is usually released to the public after the test.

Sanders has brushed aside concerns expressed by reporters about the president's health as "ridiculous".

"I don't think you could expect to see anything else, unless it's something that makes him look good", Annas said.

He also said Trump took Crestor, a cholesterol lowering statin; a low dose of aspirin to prevent heart attacks; antibiotics to treat skin rosacea; and Propecia for baldness.

"All clinical data indicates that the President is now very healthy and that he will remain so for the duration of his Presidency", Jackson wrote in his description of President Barack Obama's final physical exam, in 2016.

Mr Bornstein had previously written about Mr Trump's health in glowing terms, stating in 2015 he would be "the healthiest individual ever elected to the presidency".

Trump does not smoke, and he does not consume alcohol. The 71-year-old president is known to eat his fair share of junk food, and has famously eschewed exercise beyond golf.

The person, who has been involved in past presidential physicals, said the White House Medical Unit typically prepares a summary to give the media.

He told them that he expects it to go well and that he would be surprised if it did not.

It's a tradition for presidents to release the results of their annual physicals.
