No one knows for sure what's happening in the film due to the number of script changes made over the years, but rumor has it the Gambit film will be a hybrid superhero movie and heist film. Hailing from New Orleans, Gambit is perhaps best known for manipulating playing cards.
Considering Gambit's now had three directors to leave the film, there probably isn't a queue of talent waiting to take it on with this whiff on it. Despite being a regular fixture in animated versions of the X-Men, Gambit has to date only appeared in one feature, that being the poorly received X-Men Origins: Wolverine.
20th Century Fox's Gambit movie has once again lost its director. So what's the core of the problem?
India's Infosys posts better-than-expected Q3 profit on tax deal
Analysts pointed out that even if the benefit from the tax deal was excluded, the profit number would be in line with estimates. Parekh also said that he will lay out strategic priorities for the company by April, for which a review is now underway.
Yes, that's right - 20th Century Fox and Channing Tatum's long-gestating X-Men spinoff movie has hit another major roadblock, with director Gore Verbinski exiting the project in what Deadline describes as an "amicable split" due to scheduling issues. Other films, like The Ring and A Cure For Wellness, showed his directorial chops outside the arena of blockbuster tentpoles, and his addition to Gambit was largely seen as a promising development. Wyatt pulled out in 2015, and the project continued more or less as planned until Liman, too, exited the next year.
Of course, taking this whole situation at face value, we are also facing another question that needs to be answered: should the Gambit movie even happen at this point? The good news is that it sounds like this will still be the case as and the movie will definitely be the full-blown horror that they want it to be, fans will just have to wait a while longer for it. Look no further than the poor box office performance of Zack Snyder's Justice League for evidence of that fact. Pirates of the Caribbean director Gore Verbinski signed on to helm and a release date of February 14th, 2019 was announced.
Does this mean that we should never get a Gambit movie?
