Villagers attack Bihar CM’s convoy securitymen injured Nitish Kumar

Referring to the incident in his speech at a public meeting at Nandan, an angry Nitish hinted it was plotted by certain vested interests. Although the chief minister escaped unhurt, some of his security men sustained serious injuries. In a fit of rage, the villagers chased the cavalcade and hurled bricks and stones at it, damaging many vehicles.

The official added, "The window panes and windscreens of several vehicles were broken, interrupting the motorcade for a few minutes".

Mr Kumar, while addressing public meetings in Sasaram and Ara during his "Vikas Sameeksha Yatra", said that development without any social reforms would not help in improving the quality of life of the people.

Some villagers were injured in the pelting incident. The villagers also raised anti-government slogans.

The state government had on Friday formed a team to investigate the attack on the Bihar CM's convoy.

Bihar police on Saturday said that 19 people have been arrested in connection with the attack on Chief Minister Nitish Kumar yesterday. "My goal is not to run the government from the State capital but to assess ground realities and the progress of development schemes".

"Some people are pursuing the politics of provocation and instigation against me, as my government's initiatives aimed at the state's development were harming their selfish interests", he said.
