Investigative reporter Lauren Trager of KMOV in St. Louis obtained the tape.

"The governor denies that the picture was taken and denies stating the words attributed to him by her on the recording".

Following the announcement of Gardner's intent to investigate the allegations, Bennett released another statement asserting his confidence the Governor will be cleared. He says the facts "will prove that fully".

KMOV reports Greitens had a consensual "sexual relationship" with the man's ex-wife, who did not comment to the TV station for its story.

The governor, who billed himself as a values-based family man, said in a statement that being unfaithful in his marriage was a "deeply personal mistake". "Eric took responsibility, and we dealt with this together honestly and privately", the joint statement read.

In announcing his candidacy, he stated: "I'm Eric Greitens, I'm a Navy Seal, native Missourian and most importantly, a proud husband and father". He taught public service at the University of Missouri and was an adjunct professor of business ethics at Washington University in St. Louis.

Eric Greitens and his wife, Sheena, were at a hotel watch party with their sons when he was declared the victor in the Republican primary in August 2016.

Eggleston said Greitens took a risk by bringing his faith into the discussion.

The AP and other media have not released the identity of either the woman or her ex-husband.

Eric Greitens' admission late Wednesday that he had an extramarital affair before he was governor bumped his second State of the State address out of the headlines.

She says every woman in the General Assembly should "rise up and do the right thing".

It has asked the World Trade Organization to examine the American use of punitive duties, alleging that they violate global law. Anneberg said that's a "small price to pay to preserve American manufacturing jobs" in Washington, Mississippi and Georgia.

"For the first time, ever", she replied.

The woman alleges Greitens taped her hands to some rings and blindfolded her.

"No violence. No picture taken".

Because Greitens has attacked lawmakers, including Republican senators, he has a number of political enemies, and few people speaking up for him after he admitted to the affair.

Greitens and his wife, Sheena, also released a statement Wednesday night. "I want the media and those who wish to peddle gossip to stay away from me and my children.' Now we know who has been peddling that gossip".

Greitens' attorney James F. Bennett has denied any allegations of blackmail. The woman's ex-husband cooperated with KMOV, providing what he said was a recording from 2015 of his former wife describing in detail disturbing interactions she had with Greitens. On Election Day that November, the husband tweeted criticism of the then-gubernatorial candidate, claiming that Greitens was a "homewrecker". His now ex-wife didn't know he was recording their phone conversation. Bennett also said there was no settlement between the governor and the woman, and that there was never a non-disclosure agreement.

"If anyone has any information related to this matter, I encourage them to contact my office immediately", the statement concluded.

The reaction to Greitens' confession this week has so far been mixed, with some calling on the Republican governor to resign over the more egregious blackmail allegation and others stating their support in the wake of his apology. We did not believe it was an ex-husband's story to tell.

The ad, which also included the Republican governors of Wisconsin and IN, was aired nearly nonstop IN Illinois, Politico says, citing ad spending data showing that Rauner spent $1.3 million to broadcast the ad more than 3,100 times. I am not a part of anything.

The ex-husband also claimed that law enforcement has "an elevated interest" in Greitens' actions during the affair.

Greitens has received mixed reviews in as governor. He was fined $1,000.
