N.Korea urges South to work toward national reunification

North and South Korea exchanged lists of delegates for the upcoming working-level talks, on the former's participation in the Pyeongchang Winter Olympics next month.

On Sunday, the participants will take a tour of South Korea's frontline areas in Paju near the demilitarized zone that separates the two Koreas, and the venues for the PyeongChang Olympics.

The broadcast comes as the two Koreas are locked in talks to arrange North Korea's participation in the Olympics next month.

The meeting is a follow-up to last week's high-level talks, during which North Korea agreed to send a delegation of athletes, ranking officials, an art troupe and others to the Games. The joint press statement also said that South Korea would "do its best to guarantee the safety and convenience of the North Korean band".

The two sides will hold more talks Wednesday on the North's athletes attending the Olympics.

Additionally, Trachta said, she noticed a difference in the perspectives on North Korean relations between the people of South Korea and the United States. However, North Korea held back on replying, and then counterproposed holding working-level consultations on Monday regarding sending an art troupe.

The KCNA criticized South Korean President Moon Jae-in for crediting President Donald Trump for getting the North to sit down with the South. Trump has contended his tough stance helped persuade the North to hold talks.

Carillion said the contract was expected to generate £62 million of revenue for them over the succeeding two-and-a-half years. This hit the company's liquidity by between 2 million pounds ($2.75 million) and 20 million pounds, Cochrane added.

However, the North Korean figure skating pair of Ryom Tae-ok and Kim Ju-sik are likely to be granted a wild-card slot by the International Olympic Committee.

North Korea and South Korea have previously competed together under the unification flag in 1991 when they played as a single team in the World Table Tennis Championships in Chiba, Japan and the World Youth Football Championship in Lisbon, Portugal.

"They should know that trains and buses carrying our delegation to the Olympics are still in Pyongyang, " the North's official Korean Central News Agency said.

"The South should not put off, but wholly stop joint drills like "Key Resolve" and "Foal Eagle" if it really hopes for the improvement of inter-Korean ties, and has an intention to endeavor to create a peaceful environment on the peninsula", Uriminjokkiri said in a commentary titled "Joint Drills Main Source of Inviting Military Tensions".

For its proposed talks, North Korea said it is prepared to send four art officials, including Hyon Song Wol, a well-known singer who led the Moranbong Band's trip to Beijing in December 2015.

A joint statement after Monday's meeting didn't mention North Korea's well-known Moranbong Band, an all-female ensemble hand-picked by the North's leader Kim Jong Un.
