Sorry, Indiana: Proposal To Allow Cold Beer Sales Dies In Senate

IN Senate Committee says no to cold beer sales

Previous year the commission did not have enough members present for a vote to express support for expanding cold beer sales. By a vote of 9-1, expanded cold beer sales will not be moving forward in the Indiana Senate.

Steve Kohrman, who owns Cedar Creek Beverage in Leo, said if the gas stations in the town were given the right to sell cold beer his sales would drop by 60 percent. "It is time for Sunday sales!"

The bill is authored by local State Senator Ron Alting. IN is the only state in the nation that regulates beer on the basis of temperature.

The House Public Policy Committee passed House Bill 1051, which would allow liquor stores, grocery stores, convenience stores, drug stores and restaurants to sell carryout alcohol.

"I know my store would have to close", he said.

On the connectivity front, the devices come with USB type C port, two USB type A ports and SD card slot. The 15-inch model is also fitted with a screen resolution of 3,240×2,160 pixels (260 ppi).

"This expansion would inflict irreparable economic harm on existing, and, often multi-generational small business package liquor stores would simply go out of business", Patrick Tam with the IABR said.

It's an environment where those under the age of 21 aren't allowed inside, where the stores tend to be smaller, and not located on 'busy corners'.

IN will likely remain the only state that restricts who can sell cold beer after a Senate panel voted Wednesday to uphold a law that protects the interests of liquor stores.

Limiting the hours that alcohol could be sold on Sundays has as much to do with the Hoosiers who support the plan as it does with those who don't, according to the state representative who authored one of the bills extending hours. That set him up to sell carryout cold beer - until lawmakers intervened. Getting the bill through the Senate would still be a longshot, but if the House passes a bill with a cold beer provision, it'd be eligible to be considered in end-of-session negotiations.

No senator from northeast IN was on the committee.
