While a true mental health evaluation can only happen in person, these experts have noted there is some "increasing concern" that the President may be struggling with some mental health challenges and they recommend the President's doctor screen Trump for dementia.

Jackson performed Trump's first physical as president last Friday at the Walter Reed military hospital and insisted that the president is in good health despite some issues.

"I've spent nearly every day in the president's presence since a year ago", Jackson said.

Jackson said he conducted a cognitive screening on Trump at the president's request, although he felt the test was unnecessary.

It's worth noting Jackson was appointed as the president's physician by Obama, and began work at the White House in 2006 under the Bush administration.

The doctor said that he did not originally plan on doing a cognitive assessment as he has seen the president and interacted with him nearly every day and did not see a need for it; however, the President requested that a cognitive assessment be included in the examination of his health.

"The president is mentally very sharp", Jackson said.

"Along with listing Trump's vitals, including his height (6'3"), weight (239 lbs) and blood pressure (122/74).

It was Trump's first physical examination as president amid speculation about his mental fitness for office, spurred by the publication of a damaging book that suggested Trump's own aides worry about his stability.

Trump took office at age 70, making him the oldest incoming USA president. Jackson said he hopes to bring down the LDL or "bad cholesterol" score with diet, exercise and statin medication.

The doctor also mentioned that in addition to taking Advil and Crestor, a drug used to control cholesterol levels, Trump also takes Propecia, a drug used to stem hair loss.

Jackson said that he spoke with Trump about why the president may have audibly slurred his words during a speech on December 6 and asked an ear, nose and throat specialist to look into it.

Jackson initially had "no intention" of including such a test in the USA president's first annual physical checkup since it's not part of the routine procedure.

"We checked everything out and everything was normal", he said.
