The addition of the live news section on Apple's TV app arrives shortly after the company launched a live sports tab.

The TV app News section now offers live news feeds from Bloomberg, CBS News, Fox News, CNBC, CNN, and Cheddar.

Besides now being able to watch live news broadcasts, people can also use the Apple TV app to watch shows or movies they bought or rented via iTunes, or watch certain sports events via a Sports category that features some ESPN broadcasts.

Apple's TV app got an upgrade this week as a dedicated section for live news has been added to the front page.

"Using apps on Apple TV, iPhone and iPad has become the primary way for so many of us to watch television", said Eddy Cue, Apple's senior vice president of Internet Software and Services, in a statement.
