The House Intelligence Committee has voted to release the Adam Schiff Democratic memo that rebuts what was put out last week in the Devin Nunes Republican memo. The FBI, along with the Democrats, objected to the memo being released because they said it would compromise certain people by using their names and would relinquish operational methods.
But in 2018, Schiff argued against releasing the "Nunes memo", written by the Republican majority staff of the House intelligence panel chaired by Rep. Devin Nunes (R-Calif.) and describing classified information on how senior executives of the Department of Justice (DOJ) and the Federal Bureau of Investigation manipulated the FISA court into authorizing surveillance warrants against private US citizens supporting Trump.
"Although the President is inclined to declassify the February 5 Memorandum, because the memorandum contains numerous properly classified and especially sensitive passages, he is unable to do so at this time", White House Counsel Don McGahn said in a letter to Devin Nunes, the Republican chairman of the House panel.
On Capitol Hill, partisan sparring over the release of the memos has marked a low point in relations between Republicans and Democrats on the traditionally bipartisan committee, with many members expecting that the panel's once-united Russian Federation investigation will likely end with dueling majority and minority reports.
Not long ago, a memorandum written by Republicans on the House of Representatives intelligence committee created waves in Washington. The House vote was 256-164.
However, this is factually incorrect, as the last page of the memo states, "The Papadopoulos information triggered the opening of an FBI counterintelligence investigation in late July 2016 by FBI agent Pete Strzok". They also noted that there was other evidence presented to the court besides Steele's information, though they have not provided details.

The memo emphasized that the impartiality of this dossier should be questioned as it was commissioned by Fusion GPS on behalf of the Clinton campaign and the Democratic National Convention.

Schiff is constantly talking to reporters at The New York Times and other liberal dailies. Sheldon Whitehouse of Rhode Island, are also planning to make make floor speeches to call on Republicans to end what they call a smear campaign against the Russian Federation investigation Tuesday evening. The memo asserts those seeking the warrant did not tell the judge about the fingerprints of the Democratic Party and Clinton campaign on the dossier. That case came three years before the 2016 surveillance order described in the Nunes memo.
Kelly says the Democratic memo isn't as clean as the GOP one, which is suggesting that it may face redactions. The White House has pointedly declined to say if Trump would release the memo, saying he was being briefed by key officials, including Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein, over the assertions in the 10-page memo.
Democrats had concerns with the GOP memo over sensitive information as well, but the president declassified that.
