West Bengal: Parents staged protest in front of Carmel Primary School after a teacher allegedly molested a student of Class 2, accused teacher detained by police.
A senior police official said the parents of the alleged victim said that their daughter was abused by the dance teacher. "The child was then sexually assaulted and touched inappropriately when she was alone in the class". She is in a state of panic and shock.
The victim and three other girls were at the chemistry laboratory on the first floor of the school building where the accused, who also works as an assistant, was present, the officer said. The parents also claimed that there were no operational security cameras at the school. When the child told her mother about the assault, she initially did not believe her own ears. "We will see if the guidelines were followed or not in this case".

"Her parents met the school authorities with a medical report of the child the next day, but the school allegedly tried to hush up the incident on the grounds that it might tarnish the school's reputation and also affect the child's future", the report said. Angry parents at GD Birla had protested for days until the principal was removed and the teachers were arrested. "The guidelines have already been laid by the government".
