FBI Director Christopher Wray and Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein, in a letter to McGahn released by the White House on Friday, expressed concerns about the release of portions of the Democratic memo.

"The reality is that I want that Democrat memo released, we all do", he said.

The Democratic memo is expected to refute a collection of claims compiled by Nunes' office in a separate memo declassified without redactions by the President last Friday. The president declassified the document last week, allowing its publication in full.

The White House on Friday formally notified the House Intelligence committee that President Donald Trump is "unable" to declassify a high-profile memo written by Democrat lawmakers on the Russia Probe. The "very political and long" document had to be redone and sent back "in proper form", the president said.

White House counsel Don McGahn outlined the president's concerns in a letter sent along with the memo to the panel's Chairman, Republican Rep. Devin Nunes of California. The committee will vote to release it after the White House approves it.

The release of the memo was blocked by Trump on Friday, kicking off a new skirmish between Democrats and the White House.

The committee decided on Monday to release the Democratic memo.

"The president has been consistent in this investigation only in his obstructive behavior", Swalwell said, adding that the Dems wanted their memo reviewed by the DOJ whereas the committee GOPs did not want to work with the Justice Department on identifying and redacting potential national security issues in their memo.

Democrats say the GOP memo contradicts its own premise that the Russian Federation investigation began with Page and the dossier.

Trump, after overriding the FBI's rare public remonstration that the GOP memo contained "material omissions of fact", is now posing as a sober guardian of classified information.

The probe into Russian meddling has cast a long and obstinate shadow on the Trump administration with four campaign and administration officials have been indicated on a variety of charges by Special Counsel Robert Mueller's team that is conducting the FBI investigations.

Trump on February 2 allowed the release of the Republican memo, escalating a campaign against current and former senior law enforcement officials. They also noted that there was other evidence presented to the court besides Steele's information, though they have not provided details.

SCHIFF: No. Precisely my point is we should have never put out the flawed memo to begin with. Will Hurd, R-Texas, said it included information about an "independent source of the Federal Bureau of Investigation", and made two references to the government's signals intelligence capabilities. "This is hypocrisy at its worst", Feinstein said.

"This move by @realDonaldTrump confirms what we have all known for weeks - that his decision to release the #NunesMemo was a blatantly political move made without concern for national security".

The Democratic response was overseen by ranking member Rep. Adam Schiff (D-CA).
